Online Japanese Teacher (Fully Remote) – From ¥4,000/hour

Joyn Academy offers classes at every JLPT level from N5 to N1, with separate classes focused on grammar, kanji & vocabulary, reading, listening, and speaking. Beyond JLPT preparation, we also offer Business Japanese and business conversation classes.

The curriculum for each JLPT level runs on a three-month cycle and repeats every quarter. Speaking classes are small, typically under 15 students. Grammar, kanji & vocabulary, reading, and listening classes are mainly lecture-style and may have 15 or more students.

Language of instruction: JLPT N5 requires explanations in English. N4 uses simple English as needed. N3–N1 are generally taught in Japanese. Your assigned levels and subjects will be decided based on your teaching experience, areas of expertise, and background in Japanese language education.

This is a fully online freelance contract. Your monthly number of lessons and earnings depend on how many classes you take on. Estimated monthly earnings:

- 2 lessons/week: 8–10 lessons/month, ¥32,000–¥40,000

- 4 lessons/week: 16–20 lessons/month, ¥64,000–¥80,000

- 6 lessons/week: 24–30 lessons/month, ¥96,000–¥120,000

There is no upper limit, and you can take on multiple classes if you wish.

All materials, curriculum, and slides are provided, and student briefings are sent to you automatically before each class, so you can focus entirely on teaching and supporting your students. • Teach live online Japanese classes
• Teach grammar, kanji & vocabulary, reading, listening, and speaking at JLPT N5–N1 levels

• Deliver clear explanations and run lessons suited to each class's level and content
• Communicate with students and manage classes in an online environment

• Professional experience as a Japanese language teacher (online teaching experience required)
• A stable home internet connection, camera, and microphone
• One of: Registered Japanese Language Teacher (登録日本語教員) status, a 420-hour Japanese teacher training course, a pass on the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test, a university major/minor in Japanese language education, or equivalent
• Able to teach Japanese using English
• Able to continue working long-term after the trial period

• Specialization in Business Japanese, JLPT preparation, conversation, or reading and writing
• Experience using online tools such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Slack
• A cheerful, approachable personality and a love of teaching Japanese to international learners
• A desire to share Japanese culture and its appeal, not just the language
• Strength in JLPT preparation and a passion for helping students reach their goals

Choose from morning, afternoon, or evening slots on weekdays (Mon–Thu) and weekends (Sat–Sun). 50-minute lessons (JST). You keep the same weekly time slot for your assigned classes.
